MEET GERHARD PIENAAR

Dr Pienaar is a Fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon and has years of experience with hip and knee disorders.

With a passion for orthopaedics, Dr Pienaar began his Registrarship through the University of Stellenbosch at Tygerberg Hospital in 2011. During this time, he also pursued his master’s degree, with his dissertation on PET/CT scans as a modality for the evaluation of persisting raised infective parameters in patients treated for spine TB.

Upon completion of his specialisation in orthopaedics from the Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa: FC Orth (SA) in 2016, as well as his master’s degree in 2017, Dr Pienaar began his SAOA accredited fellowship in limb reconstruction at Tygerberg Hospital, under Professor Nando Ferreira. He then remained at Tygerberg Hospital while completing his fellowship in hip & knee arthroplasty, under the guidance of Dr Koos Jordaan.

While he performs surgery for degeneration and trauma of the hip, knee and lower limb, Dr Pienaar’s niche lies joint replacement, arthroscopy as well as management of sports injuries and trauma.

No matter what the cause of your pain is, joint specialist Dr Pienaar has the strength of experience to get you back to the activities you love
